Top 5 tips for 30k advertising banners
30k! Are you kidding me! It's the broadband generation!
Most advertisers will insist on flash banners being 30k or less, here are our top 5 tips for getting your flash banners down to size.
1) Code, code code! Never tween your animations, if you have the skill and knowledge always code your animations. Use a tween engine if you have to, but make sure it's a lite one.
2) Cut your assets to size. If you don't need to have the whole image in the frame, cut the back end off, even if you cant see it it's still using space in your file. If it doesnt need to be on the canvas remove it.
3) Fireworks is your friend. Propably the best optimiser you can buy, we use this all the time to prep our assets, you can reduce your assets by 90% using this fantastic piece of software.
4) JPEG, PNG or GIF? If you don't need transparency always use JPEG, you can optimise your assets a hell of a lot more than PNG or even GIF.
5) Limit your fonts. Only use fonts you really have to, if you can use standardised fonts like arial, this will reduce your file sizes by not having to embed custom fonts.
Well there you go, we know alot more tips but they are a trade secret! Hopefully these tips will help you in achieving that 30k goal. If you would like Door 15 to produce 30k banners for you please get in touch.

No it's not a warp drive. But it makes us think how far technology is coming along nicely. This a fan. Yes just an ordinary fan, but the principle behind it and how it works is pure sci-fi.
Never thought a fan could look so sexy and cool. I don't need a fan, but i may just buy one to show off to my mates!
Excellent Ad-Blocker for Safari 4
Sick to death of adverts?
We love Safari here, but hate the fact it can't block adverts so we went looking for some way of blocking adds. We found a few like Safariblock, Safari AdBlock but these seemed to be hack than suitable addon.
We then found a great addon that doesnt hack your Safari using input Managers or Application Enhancements but instead is set up in your preferences panel and is seperate from your browser and is easy to configure and setup.
We have to say we love it and kudos has to be given to the developers for a fantastic addon. You can download this addon from their website: http://glimmerblocker.org/

Flash and Lightbox (Flash dissapearing)
We have been doing some flash & lighbox intergration projects recently and thought i would share a quick fix for anybody who is having problems with the flash object disappearing when lightbox 2.0 is activated over the top of the flash.
If you edit the lightbox++.js file and comment out the code at line this will prevent the flash from dissappearing and will still be visible behind the lightbox opacity effect:
